Instructions:

  • 1. Determine the location for the gallery wall and plan the layout for the canvases.

  • Step 1

  • 2. Paint the tops of each canvas in the colour of your choice using separate paint brushes for each colour and let dry.

To layer the painted canvases, first decide which canvases will be layered on top of each other. This project layered smaller canvases on top of larger canvases, always leaving an off-white canvas on top. Use a hot glue gun to attach the canvases to each other.

NOTE: Always follow the instructions and warnings provided by the glue gun manufacturer.

  • Step 2

  • 3. Print out the desired image in black-and-white on computer paper, and cut them to the size of the canvas.

To trace the image onto the canvas, turn the image face down and shade the entire backside of the image in pencil.

  • Step 3

  • 4. Place the pencil side of the image onto the canvas, and use a piece ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape Original Multi-Use 2090 to hold the image in place.

  • Step 4

  • 5. Trace the entire outline of the image with the pencil. As you press down along the outline, the pencil marks on the back will transfer to the canvas.

Remove the painters tape and the image from the canvas. Trace over the faint outline and fill in using the black paint pen.

Repeat steps to transfer additional images to the remaining canvases

TIP: To decorate remaining canvases, use the black paint pen to write quotes, names, or other illustrations instead of transferring images.

  • Step 5

  • 6. To hang the layered canvases, prep the area by cleaning the surface with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, wipe gently and let dry. Remove the Command™ Picture Hanging Strips from the package and separate each strip. To form a set, connect two strips together until you hear a click.

Remove one green liner and position one set of strips on the back of the canvas. Press the strip firmly against the back of the canvas. Repeat with the remaining strips needed to hang canvas, this project uses two Picture Hanging Strips for each canvas.

NOTE: Be sure to adhere the strip to the part of the canvas that is not fabric.

  • Step 6

  • 7. Remove the remaining green liner(s) from the strips adhered to the back of the canvas. Position the canvas on the wall, using a level as needed, and press the front of the canvas against the wall for 30 seconds.

Remove the canvas by grabbing at the bottom corners and pulling up and out towards you. Press firmly along all three areas of each strip for 30 seconds each and wait one hour before remounting the canvas.

NOTE: Be sure to adhere the strip to the part of the canvas that is not fabric.

  • Step 7

  • 8. Repeat previous steps to hang each canvas that will be in the gallery wall design.

  • Step 8
